My Story with Reading
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today, I stand before you to share a tale that is close to my heart – my journey with reading.
From a tender age, books have been my constant companions. My parents, recognizing my love for stories, gifted me a plethora of cartoon books that sparked my imagination. As I grew older, my taste evolved, and I found myself drawn to the world of novels.
Reading, for me, is more than just a hobby; it's a source of knowledge and inspiration. It's a portal to distant lands, a window to the minds of great thinkers, and a mirror reflecting our own society. I've learned about history's heroes, the mysteries of nature, and the wonders of the universe through the pages of countless books.
One of my most cherished memories is when I was in elementary school, around the age of ten or eleven. My father, who had borrowed books from the school library, would bring them home for me to read. Among those treasures were classics like "Arabian Nights," "The Divine Comedy," "The Journey to the West," and "Romance of the Three Kingdoms." Despite the challenge of understanding ancient Chinese characters, I was deeply captivated by these tales.
Reading has always been a source of joy for me. I enjoy immersing myself in different worlds, meeting fascinating characters, and experiencing the ups and downs of their lives. Books have taught me valuable lessons about friendship, courage, and perseverance.
Moreover, reading has shaped my character and broadened my horizons. It has instilled in me a sense of curiosity and a desire to explore the unknown. Even during exam periods, when time was of the essence, I would sneak a few minutes to read, savoring every word.
In conclusion, reading has been a remarkable journey that has enriched my life in countless ways. It has taught me, inspired me, and comforted me. I encourage all of you to pick up a book and embark on your own reading adventure.
Thank you.
